Chapter 5
Ready and Set
Baekhyun kissed many things before they left the house the next morning. The first thing he kissed was Chanyeol, but only after brushing his teeth. He woke up earlier, around five-thirty in the morning and decided to shut down the giant’s alarm and opt for another version of waking him up which involved diving in under the covers and slowly sliding himself down on Chanyeol’s body until his lips made contact with his fiance’s cock. Chanyeol always mentioned how he loved waking up for the opportunity to wrap his arms around Baekhyun, but this was a fact that was only spoken between them when they were alone since Chanyeol wasn’t as kind and open in front of others. That morning, Baekhyun decided that his giant would wake up with his mouth wrapped around him.
Playing with a limp cock was nothing new. Baekhyun often did it to himself in the late hours of the night when Chanyeol was off, huddled in his work space trying to meet a deadline. Other times, when Chanyeol was dead beyond belief, Baekhyun would lightly caress him like a toy before going off to bed. He was somewhat aware that Chanyeol kind of knew what he did in the night, but he knew it didn’t matter.
When Chanyeol finally stirred from his sleep, he thought he’d woken up from another wet dream, but when he became conscious enough to realize that Baekhyun wasn’t beside him and that there was something warm in between his legs underneath the covers, Chanyeol jerked upright and threw the sheets over just to be met with Baekhyun grinning up at him with his face covered white.
“Good morning,” was the greeting and Chanyeol dragging Baekhyun up onto his chest and muttering small curses as he gently wiped the brunet's face clean was the response.
The second thing that Baekhyun kissed was Nugget at the breakfast table. Kyungsoo was the only one who was awake by the time that Chanyeol finally decided that a quickie in the shower was enough and that it was time to get out and eat. Nugget lapped at his father’s attention, proud to have stolen him away from the giant’s grasp for the moment.
Baekhyun walked over to the pantry and crouched down to fill Nugget’s bowl with dry dog food while Chanyeol set up the table and Kyungsoo cooked. The dog, growing bigger by the day, tempted his dad to feed him with his hands. It was only when Chanyeol insisted that the dog needed to learn how to eat by himself that Baekhyun ended his games.
“What’re we having for breakfast?” Baekhyun piped, getting up from the floor once the dog began eating. He went over to the table and sat himself down in his usual seat, adjacent to Chanyeol’s spot. “I don’t want to eat that much.”
As Chanyeol set a plate in front of the brunette, he hummed a tune of disapproval. “You’re going to eat a full breakfast. I don’t want you over-eating on the train and getting sick.”
“But I’m already kind of full, though…”
“How?”
Glancing upwards, Baekhyun signaled Chanyeol a look before glancing down at his crotch. “Got fed this morning, sir—”
It must’ve been a reflexive move from having done it so many times in front of guests, so it was to no surprise how Chanyeol covered Baekhyun’s mouth with a hand. He shot a look over to Kyungsoo, who already knew where the inference was going and was shaking his head while pouring the eggs on the pan.
“Your sex life doesn’t concern me,” Kyungsoo simply put before putting the fan on to disperse the scent of cooking food.
Chanyeol let Baekhyun’s mouth go, but not without a nonverbal warning. He merely slanted his lips and raised his brows at the brunette before leaving the table to get the glasses and orange juice poured.
The third thing Baekhyun kissed was Sehun. The nineteen year old appeared downstairs dressed in casual clothing, but more sophisticated than the clothes he usual wore on a normal work day. It was confusing to Baekhyun as to why he was up so early until Chanyeol made the announcement that Sehun was also accompanying them to his parents’ house.
“Since you’re obviously a guy,” Chanyeol started as Kyungsoo multitasked to get the coffee made, “it’s obvious that you won’t be able to give me a child.”
Baekhyun blinked at him innocently while Sehun took the seat next to him. “I’m sorry I’m not a woman, then,” he said lowly. Though there wasn’t much feelings attached, Baekhyun did feel a little bit regretful about his lack of ovaries.
However, Chanyeol didn’t want that. He knew Baekhyun had feelings of the sort on the topic, but he wanted to make it clear that it didn’t matter anyhow. “There’s nothing to apologize for,” he quickly amended. “I don't need a child, because Sehun’s already my chosen successor. I planned this long before I met you.”
“It’s true,” Kyungsoo said as he adjusted the heat of the stove.
“When I learned that I had to get married, I thought that it’d be fine to either have Sehun or my legitimate kid take on the business after I’m old and all,” Chanyeol said, gently swinging his mug around, sloshing his bitter coffee as he used his hands to express his thoughts. “But that was when I thought that Byun Baekhyun was a pretty girl.”
“Ah, the disappointment you must’ve had when you realized Byun Baekhyun had two balls and a dick,” Baekhyun said, playing around with his fork.
“Opposite,” Chanyeol said, contradicting Baekhyun’s assumption. “I was already training Sehun and mentoring him in mechanics and technology anyhow. Starting from scratch with a newborn would’ve been a lot more work.”
“Why not just send him off to school?”
“I wanted him to be ahead of the others before entering,” Chanyeol shrugged. “He’s enrolling this fall if he passes the college entrance exams in a few weeks.”
Baekhyun nodded slowly. Then he whipped to his right, facing Sehun. “Did you graduate from High School? I don’t remember you telling me.”
“Yeah,” Sehun responded, smiling a bit. “I graduated from this town…It’s a bit rural.”
“Why didn’t you go straight to a university then?”
“Ah…” Baekhyun could see that Sehun glanced in Chanyeol’s direction so he turned his head just in time to see the giant give a slight nod of the head. “No money, basically.”
“Oh…”
“He was working as a mechanic's assistant when Chanyeol met him,” Kyungsoo said as he slowly slid the finished eggs onto a plate. “Under the table, of course, since he had no degree. He knew his basics, but no paper to prove that type of thing.”
It was weird how in all their time together, Baekhyun never got around to asking how Sehun became the gardener. In a way, he wondered back then why a kid of nineteen years of age got paid the same wage as him even though he labored cleaning the floors and bathrooms all week while all Sehun had to do was water a few plants and made sure they lived. It never really occurred to him that Chanyeol was being extra generous for personal reasons.
The thought of Chanyeol offering help, even planning to hand off a multi-billion company off to a child off the rugged streets, was endearing. Baekhyun smiled as he leaned closely to Sehun’s face, ultimately planting a kiss just at the curve of the boy’s lips. Immediately, Sehun’s face turned red, blushing furiously while Baekhyun pulled back and laughed.
“When you apply for a university, you should try and apply to Yonsei University. The boys in the business major are all clones of the same arrogant bastard, but the professors know their stuff. Education wise, I’d give it an A.”
Chanyeol grinned from behind his mug at the sound of Baekhyun’s encouragement, but the joy didn’t last too long.
“However, you should also have fun at school,” Baekhyun added, looking into Sehun’s focused eyes. “If you join a Fraternity, be sure you’re ready to do some weird things. When I tried to join one freshman year, I had to run two laps around the entire campus with nothing but a jockstrap. After that, I decided that it was too much work. Oh! And parties! Don’t listen to what anyone says. You can party every weekend and still graduate. I’m the living proof. Be careful, though. You could get drugged—I mean, personal experience and all, I can tell you that I’ve been—”
“Alright, time to eat!” Kyungsoo interrupted, bringing over the omelet and going back and forth to get the bowls of rice on the table along with the side dishes he quickly made. “Sehun, study now, party later.”
“Or do both. I came out fine,” Baekhyun said, smiling.
Pulling the chair he usually sat in, Chanyeol sat down and shook his head. “Don’t listen to him, Sehun. Do it at your own pace.”
As the four of them became more settled and Nugget laid down on the floor after eating so much, Baekhyun huffed. “Asshole...”

There wasn’t much to be packed. All of them had one suitcase, even Nugget. His suitcase, though, was a miniature backpack that Baekhyun convinced Chanyeol to buy the month before for “fashion purposes”, which Chanyeol eventually gave into.
Chanyeol drove them to the bus station, and being that it was a new town and all, Baekhyun couldn’t help but wander around the play just to look at maps and schedules while taking multiple photos of himself and Nugget.
Once their destined bus arrived, Baekhyun was quick to board, leaving Chanyeol to deal with having their luggage packed in the bus’ bottom storage and handing over the car keys to Kyungsoo. He chose a window seat, placing Nugget on his lap. Chanyeol, when he finally climbed in, sat beside him while Sehun sat in the seat behind them with an elderly woman who enjoyed talking to him about how he reminded her of her grandson.
The passenger train station was a while away, perhaps an hour and fifteen minutes, but Baekhyun made sure to occupy himself. Chanyeol couldn’t sleep even though Nugget was dozing off like nothing else in the world mattered. He looked over and caught Baekhyun smiling at him. Reaching over, he held the brunet’s hand and laced their fingers together.
“Excited?” Chanyeol asked, leaning close just for Baekhyun to hear.
“Nervous, like I said,” Baekhyun replied back, shrugging. “They might not like me.”
“Of course, they’ll like you,” Chanyeol sighed, relaxing by leaning against his seat. “I think you’re wonderful.”
“Well, now you’re just spewing crap out of your mouth,” Baekhyun said, rolling his eyes. In response, he received a squeeze of the hand. “You’re the one who hated me to begin with.”
“I didn’t hate you.”
“Yes, you did.”
Chanyeol clicked his tongue, heaving his shoulders in exasperation. “If anything, I hated you because you wouldn’t sleep with me. The night you led me on to believe that you’d be riding me until dawn, but ended up kicking me out? I hated you for that. I also hated the way you strutted around the house with that ass of yours, but kept telling me that you were off limits even when it was clear you wanted me, too. God, you were playing so hard to get, I—”
Baekhyun’s jaw unlocked, hanging open as he gave Chanyeol a dramatic look. “I was not,” he hissed quietly. “I was merely setting boundaries.”
“Well, those boundaries were the reason why I was mad at you for half the time,” Chanyeol replied. “Anyways, it doesn’t matter. There’s nothing to be scared about. It’s just going to be my parents and a few friends.”
Pausing, Baekhyun blinked, fluttering his eyes. “Excuse me, but did you say friends?”
“Yeah, just a few guys I went to school with. Nothing big.”
Shaking the giant’s hand, Baekhyun pursed his lips while scrunching his brows. “You didn’t tell me I had to meet your friends.”
“Now you’re scared to meet my friends, too?” Chanyeol laughed softly and Baekhyun couldn’t help but nudge him. “They’re my friends. They’re not going to eat you.”
“I—”
“However, if they try, they’re more than welcome to dig their own grave,” Chanyeol added, the teasing playfulness in his voice gone. When he looked over at Baekhyun again, he used his other hand to stroke the brunet’s hair. “This is just one of those things that all couples go through. You’re not only marrying me, but you’re also marrying my family. Remember that, okay?”
Baekhyun pouted, making a grumbling voice. “This is such a hassle.”
“Don’t be lazy.”
“It’s so much work, Yeol,” Baekhyun whined, resting his head against Chanyeol’s shoulder. His eyes wandered to their hands, taking notice of the rings. “Can I just…not?”
“For someone who’s usually social, you’re being an introvert right now.” Sighing, Chanyeol settled to their position, resting his cheek softly against Baekhyun’s hair. “It’s only four days.”
“What if they don’t like me?”
It was about the hundredth time that Baekhyun mumbled out the question and Chanyeol was almost hyperaware of the brunet’s thoughts and nerves. He really didn’t know how else to put Baekhyun at ease. Their hands were already intertwined, they were engaged properly and by no contract obligation, Chanyeol already made sure to let Baekhyun know that he was all he wanted, and Baekhyun was comfortable in their new home, in his new life.
Chanyeol tried to think back to the first time that he met Baekhyun’s parents so that he could relate to how Baekhyun was feeling, but he realized that his experience was odd. He met Baekhyun’s parents as a business meeting, which meant that he wasn’t nervous about whether or not they’d like him. He was more concerned about the arrangement back then. Then, when he went to meet with the Byuns again to formally ask for Baekhyun’s hand in matrimony, he wasn’t hit with a wave of nervousness that could be compared to how Baekhyun was feeling at the moment because he had already met them.
Sighing, Chanyeol turned his head slightly and placed a kiss on the top of Baekhyun’s head. “That’d be shame then,” he said, grazing his thumb against Baekhyun’s. “Guess we’d have to elope and have Kyungsoo, Luhan, Kai, and Sehun as our witnesses.”
Then, a small smile formed on Baekhyun’s lips as he lifted his head to give Chanyeol his attention. “Really?”
“If it has to come down to it.”
Placing a quick kiss on Chanyeol’s shoulder, Baekhyun snuggled close, head on the giant’s shoulders. “Hopefully not. I know you want your parents at the wedding. Friends, too. I know I’d want my family there, so…eloping will be our last, last, last, last resort. Also, if we do elope, Nugget will also be a witness. Our son needs to see it.”
“Nugget will be a witness whether we elope or get married in a church,” Chanyeol pointed out. “I know you too well. You won’t have it any other way.”
“Of course.” A small pause passed by before Baekhyun sighed in content. “I’ll make sure they like me. I’ll worm my way into their hearts the way I worm my hand into your pants.”
“That’s the spirit.”
Ready and Set
