Chapter 28
Showgirls

Things would make sense if you listened to this

In Chanyeol’s absence, the house remained the same except for the fact that Baekhyun didn’t have to worry about being dragged somewhere secluded to be touched and pleasured in places that he didn’t mind Chanyeol touching. As Baekhyun found, he had more freedom with Chanyeol gone. And even though a part of him missed the demanding and overbearing boss—or lover, Baekhyun didn’t know which term he felt more comfortable with yet—he liked the fact that he could get away with certain things.

It wasn’t much to Baekhyun’s surprise though when he found Kyungsoo’s laptop open in the kitchen with Kyungsoo nowhere to be found. Curiosity killed the cat, but it also killed Chanyeol’s supposedly secret task for his cook, which was to keep an eye on him.        Unable to help himself, Baekhyun stuck the sandwich he was eating at the time in his mouth, holding it there as he pulled a seat out and began to erase the last few observations about him with details that would get the point across that Chanyeol was being stupid.

By the time Kyungsoo came back around, Baekhyun was on the couch, watching a movie with Nugget, often saying the lines along with the actors on the television.

“One time, she punched me in the face. It was awesome,” Baekhyun quietly quoted.

Abusing Chanyeol’s unlimited movie membership on his television, Baekhyun discovered the movie Burlesque and became fascinated with it. Even though Chanyeol’s orders were to rest and limit all unnecessary movement, Baekhyun didn’t listen, often justifying it with a simple phrase: “You can’t keep a good girl down.”

Previous to Chanyeol leaving, whenever creaking was heard around the house, it usually meant that Baekhyun was probably lying with his face down and ass up with Chanyeol right behind him, but when Kyungsoo walked into the source of the creaking, he interrupted on a scene with Baekhyun standing on top of his bed, dancing and performing for Nugget who sat with his bottom on the desk, staring up in amusement at his singing and dancing dad.

“Hit it up, get it up, won't let you rest! Hit it up, get it up, this is not a test. Hit it up, get it up, gotta give me your best!” he sang. He kept on singing even as he saw Kyungsoo standing by his doorway. Instead of stopping, he hopped off his bed and jazz stepped his way over to Kyungsoo. “So get your ass up, show me how you Burlesque!”

Delving into his fascination with showgirls, Baekhyun continued to spend hours hunting down movies with Nugget by his side. Sehun would sometimes drop by and watch with him. The same situation was with Kai. For the first two days of Chanyeol’s absence, Baekhyun had control of the television remote.

“Baek, I think you need some fresh air.”

“Okay…”

Baekhyun didn’t tear his eyes from his fourth replay of Burlesque until Kyungsoo took the remote and paused the movie, breaking the trance. When Baekhyun turned his head to whine, he was tossed a purple leash.

“Go take Nugget out for some exercise, alright?” Kyungsoo said, glancing down at Nugget who saw the leash and jumped up off the floor. “He’s been bored.”

Looking down at his hands, Baekhyun stared at the leash for a second. He didn’t feel like going out for a walk in the hot sun, but at the same time, he didn’t want to tell Kyungsoo that. Knowing that he wasn’t going to be able to resume his movie until he did something productive, Baekhyun nodded.

“Sure. Let me just go change.”

By “change”, Kyungsoo expected Baekhyun to change his clothes into something more fitting for the outdoors. He didn’t expect Baekhyun to come out from the hallway looking like a beach tourist gone wrong. Three white streaks were on his face. One ran down his nose while the other two were on both his cheeks. By a guess, Kyungsoo figured that was sunscreen. Then he saw two empty plastic gallons in Baekhyun’s hands. Kyungsoo didn’t really check because his eyes dragged on to Baekhyun’s apparent speedo.

“When…did you get that?” Kyungsoo asked, unable to help himself.

“I bought it a long time ago when I bought all my other stuff when I first came here,” Baekhyun said, shrugging. When Baekhyun moved towards the backdoor with Nugget in tow, Kyungsoo stepped in front of him.

“You’re walking the dog looking like this?”

Baekhyun blinked. “Walk the…oh. No. I’m gonna teach Nugget how to swim,” he said, lifting the goggles that hung around his neck. Cleaning the house had its perk considering Baekhyun found the goggles unused in the cellar. “He can handle the bathtub. I think he’s ready for a little motion.”

“Motion…” Kyungsoo mumbled. “Baekhyun, Chanyeol said—”

Before Kyungsoo could try and argue reason, Baekhyun touched him by the neck, making Kyungsoo react awkwardly as he cringe away from Baekhyun’s touch. During the distraction, Baekhyun slid the door open and hustled Nugget out the door.

“Waddle!”

Nugget followed his dad’s orders. With his tiny paws, he padded and quickly waddled across the deck, carefully putting one paw at a time as he descended down the steps. Baekhyun followed after him, shouting at him whenever he checked to see if his dad was still there.

Looking back, Baekhyun saw Kyungsoo shaking his head disapprovingly. He almost felt bad, but then Kyungsoo yelled out the door. “Fine, but you better come back inside alive!”

Laughing, Baekhyun cupped his hands to his mouth. “Thanks, Kyungsoo!” he cooed.

Rolling his eyes, Kyungsoo closed the door and left Baekhyun to do as he pleased.

Once they got to the beach, Baekhyun put  the full body leash on Nugget. Afterwards, Baekhyun tied the two empty gallons to the tiny strap flaps on Nugget’s leash. Stepping back, Baekhyun looked at his work. He hadn’t been able to find a life jacket for dogs as small as Nugget, so plastic gallons would have to do. They’d keep him afloat despite how tacky it was.

When Baekhyun decided to sit down in the water that was only knee high, trying to help Nugget paddle, it was the wettest that his bottom half had been since Chanyeol had left. The thought hit him just as hard as the cold water shriveled up his balls. Over time, though, Baekhyun’s body grew accustomed to the temperature.

For the first fifteen minutes of sitting and trying to get Nugget to paddle over to him, Baekhyun was crying from laughing at the fact that whenever a wave hit Nugget, the gallons that were supposed to keep him afloat were dragging him back to shore.  Seeing how useless the devices were, Baekhyun untangled everything and threw the gallons on the sandy beach. Afterwards, he let Nugget free swim.

Forty-five minutes flew by before Baekhyun walked back on the beach and lied flat on his back. Using his arm, he covered his eyes from the sun and enjoyed the heat while, at the same time, making sure that he heard Nugget’s barking at the foaming water.

Then without a warning, a shadow casted over him. Squinting his eyes, Baekhyun looked up and saw Kyungsoo with his hand holding something out to him. “Take it.”

Blinking a few times, Baekhyun took the item and realized it was the house phone. “I don’t need it…?”

“It’s Chanyeol.” When Kyungsoo saw Baekhyun’s eyes widen, he stepped back as the half-naked male sat up quickly. “Nope. Deal with it. You can’t give it back to me now. I’ve done my part,” he defended as he started taking steps back before eventually turning around and heading back to the house.

Looking down at the phone, Baekhyun blew out a breath before putting it to his ear. “Hi, Chanyeol.”

“Where are you right now?”

Baekhyun looked around. He saw the blue sky and the white clouds. He saw the water. He also saw Nugget digging a hole near the water. “Uh, inside.”

“Lying’s not going get you anywhere.”

“Except out of trouble,” Baekhyun laughed.

“Baek, I told you to behave, damn it—”

Baekhyun sighed. “I am.”

“No, you’re not,” he heard Chanyeol agitatedly say. “What’s this I hear about you jumping around the house? What the hell have you been jumping off of?”

Baekhyun snorted. “Nothing. I haven’t been jumping off anything,” he muttered truthfully. He didn’t know what Chanyeol was going on about, but he figured that Kyungsoo had exaggerated the scene he saw that time he walked in on Nugget’s private performance of Burlesque.

“And why should I believe you over Kyungsoo?”

“Because he’s getting back at me for touching him,” Baekhyun let out.

There was a small silence on the line for a few passing seconds. “What do you mean you touched him?”

Baekhyun pulled the phone back and looked at it for a moment before rolling his eyes and answering. “I touched him like he was a virgin.” Then he paused. “Is that what you wanted me to say?”

He heard Chanyeol groan on the other side. “I don’t need you doing this to me right now, Baek.”

“I’m not doing anything,” Baekhyun mumbled as he lied back on the sand.

“Whatever. I don’t want you doing anything stupid. For once, just listen to me.”

“But I’m feeling fine,” Baekhyun said, closing his eyes.

“Baek. Listen,” Chanyeol warned.

Sighing, Baekhyun rolled on his stomach. “I don’t think so,” he teased to a small degree.

On the other side, he heard Chanyeol scoff. “You’re a little more brazen than usual. Just wait until I get back.”

“Oh, I’m so scared, I’m shaking,” Baekhyun said, laughing at his own sarcasm.

Chanyeol, on the other hand, didn’t find it so funny. “When I get back, you’ll be shaking alright.”

Playing around with Kyungsoo’s laptop that night, Baekhyun tried to look up a reputable place that resembled the set of Burlesque and all the movies that he had seen the last two days. The closest thing he could find was a four and a half star strip club in the next town over. Judging from the reviews, the place seemed clean. Baekhyun thought about it for a moment, but then thought “to hell with it”. Plugging the computer to Chanyeol’s printer, he printed out the club’s information and direction.

The next time Chanyeol called, the conversation had gone from the usual lecture and somehow transitioned over to heavily sexual innuendoes that all started when Chanyeol mentioned the speedo that Baekhyun had kept hidden.

“How come you haven’t worn it before?”

Baekhyun quirked his lips—not that Chanyeol could see. “Why do you care?” he scoffed.

“Because I do.”

“Mhm,” Baekhyun hummed sarcastically. “Well, I prefer shorts, but since I wasn’t really swimming, I didn’t wanna wash an entire pair. It’d take too long and take too much soap. Total waste, if you ask me. I can just hand wash speedos and things like this.”

It took a moment before Chanyeol answered. “For some reason, you’re starting to sound like a housewife.”

Baekhyun paused. “Well, I’m not,” he huffed.

“I know you’re not…” Chanyeol said, hanging his voice in the end. “Anyways, maybe you could show me what they look like when I come back.”

Rolling his eyes, Baekhyun called him out. “You can stop beating around the bush and just tell me you wanna see me one clothing away from being completely naked, Chanyeol.”

There was a short pause. “I never said that.”

“Yeah, but still,” Baekhyun said.

“Well, either way, I won’t be touching you that much when I get back,” Chanyeol said with a sigh. “If you weren’t still recovering right now, I’d honestly ask you to finger yourself and have phone sex with me.”

“Oh, yeah?” Baekhyun purred. “You want me to put my fingers in my mouth and start touching myself down there to the sound of your voice?” he said, trying to keep a sexy tone, but ended up failing as he started snickering. “You want me to slide them in and out like how you do when you prep me?” At the end of the sentence, Baekhyun was laughing at his own attempt.

“Phone sex is stupid, Chanyeol,” he said as he wheezed. “You’re tacky.”

“And now I’m hard,” Chanyeol growled. “Damn it, Baekhyun—”

“I’m not sorry.”

“I know you aren’t.”

Once again on Kyungsoo’s laptop, Baekhyun went on the search engine. Thinking he had put the browser on “Do not record history” mode, he proceeded on with his question for the worldwide web.

8:14pm: “I would like an excercise pole...”

After doing his research, Baekhyun wrote down note after note about the arguments that he was going to present to Chanyeol about the upside of owning—or renting—a pole around the house. His arguments, to him, seemed legitimate. There was no solid argument on Chanyeol’s part that would make him throw his arguments under the bus by one disputal counterargument.

1. Strip poles are used for exercise.

2. You can rent it.

3. Firefighters use poles and firefighters are good people. I should get one, too.

4. It’s made out of stainless steel—just like the bike that you refuse to get me.

5. Students need books. Dancers need studios. I need a pole in my room.

6. It’s easy to install. The people online said that if you’re good looking, some people will install it for free. I think I can make the cut.

7. They’re the same ones used in clubs so it’s “professional” equipment that professionals use.

8. I’m running out of reasons, but you want me to be happy in your godforsaken house so you will end up buying it for me.

9. I’ll tell you you’re handsome.

10. I’ll compliment your size.

Taking a step back and looking at his list, Baekhyun nodded. It started out logically and eventually watered down to some pitiful compliments, but nonetheless Baekhyun had a solid argument list in his hands that he couldn’t wait to present in a few short days.
